Chapter 3

Sex, Gender, and Sexual Orientation

Chapter 3 looks at gender and sex as socially constructed concepts and explores the diversity of experience in gender identity and expression as well as sexual and romantic orientations. This is connected back to human rights, which include freedom of expression and freedom from discrimination, and how challenging binary ideas of sex and gender can be part of upholding those rights.
